Our Story

In 1991 we discovered a product abroad that would revolutionize the hair accessory market: a metal FREE hair tie. This would become an instant classic and a staple, not only in the professional fashion industry, but in every household across America because they would virtually glide off the hair. BLAX® Snag-Free Hair Elastics low profile and hair matching color selection made them an instant hit in the professional industry. Smoothies Hair Accessories would then introduce the most commonly used hair ties that you see today which is a hair tie that has two ends melted together. As a family owned and operated business, Intuition Inc. has grown but the humble beginnings will not be forgotten. 

Suffering from Alopecia, current co-owner of Intuition Inc., Terry found that she could not use traditional hair accessories which would snag and pull out her hair. To preserve what hair she had left, she proceeded to search for hair accessories that had minimal pulling or snagging. Her husband Jerry found the solution abroad in Japan. Together they would create Intuition Inc. which would birth two revolutionary metal free hair ties that would virtually glide off the hair: BLAX® and Smoothies. BLAX® would be the first Polyband which was made available to primarily professional stylists and Smoothies would be your traditional hair tie but without the metal crimp. After a successful launch, popularity would spread like wildfire. Smoothies would then proceed to launch its own line of hair accessories whose goal was simple: create a quality product without the hefty price tag. Decades later the business is still family owned and operated. Intuition Inc. and its brands have grown to supply beauty businesses all over the world and aims to now impact lives through charity, sustainability through sourcing responsibly, eco friendly manufacturing processes, and products that have less negative environmental impact after their useful life is over. 

Why Us

The legacy our products have created since 1991 speaks for themselves. Today, the market has been flooded by knockoffs whose manufacturing from China and Taiwan sacrifice both quality and integrity. We see their products on the floor everywhere we go, whether they get lost, break, or are thrown away, the environmental impact is negative. Our Smoothies hair ties products use more sustainable approaches through natural dyes, real rubber, and real cotton unlike our competitors. We decided to strictly manufacture our Smoothies hair ties and multi-year award winning BLAX® from Japan because the quality standards are unmatched by any other manufacturer. BLAX® Snag-Free Hair Elastics are also manufactured responsibly through more sustainable manufacturing processes than our competitors- whose cheap Polybands sacrifice quality and integrity for the sake of quantity and profit. We seek to continue pushing the limits of sustainability while maintaining the quality that has made us the gold standard for hair ties.
